Decisions, decisions

I just found out that there is another excellent running event that occurs on my 50th birthday. The MORE Marathon in New York City is also on April 26th. For those of you who don't know, the MORE Marathon is only for women over 40 and last year 7000 mature women ran it. I think it would be a blast to celebrate my birthday that way. However, there's something about run/walking a 50K on my birthday that speaks to me. I've still got a lot of time to decide, and my training for either one will be the same. Actually it would probably be easier to train for the 50K since I am planning from the start to run/walk it and if I did the marathon, I would want to (of course) set a PR. Of course, I can always run the marathon next year, but how many times am I turning 50 and be able to do a 50K? Looks like I have some pros and cons to weigh in the next month or two.

I vote for the ultra. No surprise there.

I would recommend doing the marathon for a couple reasons.
First of all, it's my opinion that a person should have several marathons under their belt before attempting an ultra.
Secondly, it sounds like you would have the opportunity to run with lots of gals with whom you may have a common interest.
Just my 2 cents....

Now who are you gonna listen to? Some internet nut that wandered over to your blog . . .?

Or your brother?

I'm just saying.

I have heard great things about that marathon if you decide to do it! I think it is lots of fun and there is just something about running a female only event (sorry guys)...just once anyway! Jess

I ran the More 1/2 marathon in April, 2006. It was very cool being with all those women.
